Wendy received her Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Hesser College in 2012, a long over-due compliment to her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education/Movement Science from Gordon College. After working in technology and customer service, she finally is where she belongs. SMART is the perfect setting for Wendy to work with families and friends in a friendly, caring, patient-centered environment.
In Wendy’s spare time, she can be found playing percussion with local theater groups and community concert and marching bands. In between, she loves to mountain bike, play soccer and enjoy the outdoors with her husband and dog.
DENNIS R PONTE, PT
Dennis graduated with his degree in Physical Therapy (PT) from Boston University in 1981. He has worked in orthopedics and sports medicine since then; including involvement with local high schools and youth sports. Dennis opened SMART in 1984. He enjoys the rewarding interactions with patients and working towards patients’ goals.
When not at work Dennis enjoys family time, cooking, boating, fishing and following Boston sports!
DENNIS PONTE JR., DPT, OCS
Dennis Jr. graduated with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in 2010. He worked in the Boston area in outpatient clinics for two years before moving to the West Coast. He spent five years employed at San Francisco General Hospital as an outpatient staff therapist. His main focuses are orthopedic based impairments but he has also worked with individuals with balance deficits, Parkinsons Disease and neurological disorders.
When Dennis Jr. is not at work he enjoys spending time with his family, playing ice hockey, and snowboarding.
KATHLEEN ‘KAT’ HOPKINS, PTA
Kat has been a member of the SMART team since January of 2017. She is a graduate of Emmanuel College, and then decided to pursue a career as a PTA.
Outside of SMART, Kat enjoys spending time with her 2 golden retrievers.
DAVID CHICCUARELLI, PT AIDE
Exercise Physiologist, SPT
David has been working at SMART as an aide since June of 2014. He graduated with a degree in exercise physiology from UMass Lowell in May of 2018, and subsequently was admitted to and enrolled in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) program there, where he anticipates graduating in 2021. Clinically, David has experience in strength and conditioning, and he plans on pursuing a specialty in orthopedic physical therapy upon graduating.
When not in school or at the clinic, David enjoys following Boston sports and playing golf.
